i used to have the boot problem as well. After i sent in my car to replace the LCD screen plus software upgrades, everything has been resolved...boot, indash cd...except car jerks when cornering..

I just had a word with my dealer. He said his showroom cars (1 x 520 and 1 x 530) both cannot fold the mirrors using remote key. I told him mine can. He was puzzled as well.

Anybody knows how to get the software version? I tried the trip reset button....cannot leh.

one more thing to check. When you start your engine, your key is in the hole. How can you open up the boot? Can you press the boot button on the key to open or you physically walk out of the car to open?

As soon as you put your key in the contact, the remote buttons should be disabled. This is how your remote should behave because it will prevent you from accidentally press one of the buttons when starting the car.

If you want to open the trunck while the key is in the contact then you should press the lock/unlock button which is present inside your car to unlock all doors/trunck and open up the trunck by using the handle (just above your rear license plate). Please note that unlocking the trunck this way will only work if the lock of your trunck is in the right position. Depending on how this lock is positioned it will respond to the central lock/unlock command, otherwise not. I hope this is not too confusing.

To be honest I haven't tried this out yet on a real E60 (mine will be delivered in 4 weeks) but this is how it works on my E46.

used to drive e46 like yourself. the e60 is totally different beast when come to electronics therefore all the confusion current owners have.

By the way there is no boot release button from inside the car. if the boot is lock ie. key slot at 3 and 9 o'clock there is no way you can open the boot without turning off the engine take out the key and press the boot release button.
I think BMW remove the boot release button inside the car for safety purposes as the e60 boot raises when released blocking rear view in case.

also vs. earlier batch e46... one has to step on brake to crank the engine.

enjoy your e60 when it arrives .. you gonna love it.

cheers

I hope you're right! I am starting to have second thoughts especially after reading all the stories here, and not to mention the fact that I am currently driving a 330Ci Convertible (and the summer is starting here) and I am going to only a 525d. I hope it will be not too big of an adjustment, especially performance wise.

sg520i, no idea at all!!! I live in Belgium, and overhere the base prices (without any options) are:

530i = 42500 EUR (+/- 47000 USD)
545i = 60000 EUR (+/- 66000 USD)

Just wondering, what made you think that I live somewhere in the US?
