BMWorld.. did u chrome it or retrofit it on the kidney grille?
I think getting the OEM grille from the 545i will be better instead?

I traded in the old rims and tyres for a misery sum. The new tyres are 245/50/18 ZR Goodyear F1. After I replaced the rims, the car attracted a lot more stares from passerbys. The car looks aggressive with the 18" style 124 replicas.

totoseow/zag, do you find your 18" wheels noisy? I just fixed the 18" wheels and feels the car is noiser and heavier than when it had the 16" wheels.

kiasu,
without prior reference i can't really say if those 18" are whisper quiet or relatively noisy on my ride.. the run flats actually give quite a stiff ride but overall i think it is much quieter than my previous e46 320i and probably the cabin insulation. I can enjoy soft music on the radio though.

going to 245mm I think you would expect decibel increase as compare to yr previous sets but should not be so drastic though.

cheers.

ok collected my car yesterday from pml. They told me they can see that mine is thicker than the normal ones. the only way to check is to look from below. They confirmed its presence....I am talking about the dynamic drive.

The rattling is now gone...they fixed anti-friction tape...this is a common fault since E46 apparently. Some batches get it, some don't.

They cant fix the retractable steering, and I have to send the car back again...I saw the car hooked up to some computers. its an electronic fault...and they hv reprogramme the whole car...n they cant isolate it still. maybe some hard wiring gone wrong they say.

Also to reconfirm..there is no new software upgrades...and they do not know if its possible for anyone to retract ur mirrors via the car-key. When suggested that a fellow owner can do it....they were surprised.

Last of all, No I dun feel the 124 wheels harsh. Sure there is more road noise than a Merc...but then there is more pleasure n more feel here. It doesnt bother me since i m used to loud exhaust booms. now that my tyres are run in...I can induced screeches as I turn and stepped harder on the pedal. No slippages, but just a screech....I like it! it means I m gonna do some controlled drifts soon!

Hey Zag,
Maybe I got your wrong! The chromed kidney grilles (545i) was retrofitted, given by the salesguy. I spray painted the bottom grilles instead.

Toto, about the DD, can you personally see the difference? What is thicker?

Cheers!

NO i cant see it unless i go under the car...the anti-roll bars r thicker n there is supposed to be a hydraulic device cut n fitted in the bars...which my tech guy saw.

BWWorld,
No.. you were right. I was referring to the bumper grille earlier on.
The chrome kidney grille was in respond to Toto's question on chroming the exisiting ones which I thought is available from pml.

toto,
that's lame for pml not to be able to fix the steering. you got the BMW resident german engr to look at it also?

you screeching on 275mm tyres.. is this right?
.... i hate it coz it attracts attention just like the other day was doing aggressive 90 deg turn with all the screeching noises... it was so loud i saw some pedestrians running for cover. Malu lar!
