Ken,

Did you get your Dunlop winter tires from the dealer? My dealer is promising me a good price on them mounted Spider Spoke 138's when I need them.

What kind of pricing did you see when you went shopping for them?

Thanks

I purchased Dunlop snows mounted on 5 spoke rims from the dealer. They were on the car when I picked it up so I haven't driven my car with summers as yet. BMW Canada has a package price for the rims and tires. My debate was whetther or not to purchase run flat snows or regular snow tires and a jack and spare. It was less expensive to by the run flat snows.

I got about 10% of the list price on the package. Well worth it. We have had a lot of snow and poor roads over the last two weeks and I have had no problems at all.

"The profit for the dealer from paying MSRP on a 545 is about $ 10,000, with the salesperson making at least $ 3000 for the sale. Not bad for a few hours work. So you have a lot of room to manouver."

Did anyone get the invoice cost from Carscostcanada or anywhere else for the 545i (MSRP $77,700). I am in the market for a 545i in Vancouver and was wondering what is reasonable to offer the dealer for a 545i. I am not looking for many options and was thinking of a 545i with just the sport package with the 6 speed manual or SMG.

Can anyone also recommend a good dealer and good salesperson to deal with in the Vancouver area?

I got my tires and rims from BMW Toronto. The M3's were expensive, I paid $ 3700, that is a lot but they were sold out everywhere I called. That is without a discount.

Thanks for the information, Ken and ademitt.

I know I'll need the tires. I've been using Pirelli Wintersports for the last six years on my 540's and they were OK but not great. I hope the Dunlops are better. The Pirellis mounted on alloy cross-spoke rims were $2,400.

Guess I'll start saving for next winter!

Regards,

TH

Has anyone in Canada with a 2005 car have bluetooth enable without the dealer having to activate it? My dealer says that it needs to be turned on or upgraded by additional software. And if they upgrade the software, does that mean the entire software is upgraded or just the bluetooth part?

I had my software upgraded to 13.3 when I had the AUX input installed in mid December. Two weeks ago, I went in to try to activate BT and was told by the Service Manager that they had to upgrade three software modules but not the entire car software. Apparently, when they connect the car to their upgrade computer, the computer tells them what components or modules require updating given the type of modification or install they are doing.

I was also told that the computer they use is connected to BMW AG so that they can keep tabs on the delaers to see what types of upgrades or modifications they are doing. Big Brother certainly appears to be watching.

My Ride: Ordered Jan 11/05 545 Step, Black Saphire, Truffle Brown, Sport, Logic, Sat Prep Waiting.........................

Hi Guys,
I just ordered a 545 to replace my 540.
For an extra fee of $400 (special order fee) I was able to order the satellite pre-wiring; allowing me to drive down to burlington, VT and have Sirius installed.
Without it, you can never add the Sirius.
Just thought you all should know.
