Hi All. in Vancouver here...? (the "real" Vancouver, not the one in OR...)
I have always wondered why BMW doesnt write in the mph under the kph in the speedo?. US models have both measurments written in thier speedo???
Its a pain when I go down across the border and I have to guess the speed limit.
I think the other difference is that most Canadian models come installed with the front license plate bracket too. Also all the packge options are different. No Sirius radio available because we're behind the times. In Canada, no Leatherette upholstery available, Dakota and Nasca Leather only.? Xenon lights optional in US, std in Canada. Obviously no 525 not available (as stated before) only 530 and 545.
cheers.

[quote name='KenTO' date='Jan 19 2005, 12:30 PM']I wonder how many of us are there?? Since I have owned my car (one month) I have seen only two other E60's on the road, a 545 and a 530.
I have seen a few E500's, smoked one at a light the other day.?
I lived in Edmonton for a year, heli, you probably have the only 545 in the city.

Hello all Canadians, Bought my 07/04 built 530I in November 2004. Paid $6.000 below the MSRP. How is everyone doing in ice and snow. I was too scared to take mine in the snow and had it parked for the last two weeks which sucked. My Lexus is not any better in snow either with all seasons. I am Vancouver.

We actually had freezing rain last night and today, not good on the roads at all ... I'm thinking that without winters on, you should leave the 5 at home

In Toronto, you have to have winter tires, the cost is definitely worth it. I find that the snow, ice and bad weather are not a problem. I got dunlop wintersport M3's, which are great in snow and on dry. Best investment I made in the car, I've had the traction control go off only once this winter.
As for purchasing a car or leasing, don't use MSRP as your starting point, use the invoice price. You can go online at websites such as carcostcanada.com and for a small fee, get the invoice price with options. You should aim for invoice + < 4 %. If you are leasing and don't wish to keep the car at the end, tell them to base the residual on MSRP.
You can also go to edmunds.com and they will tell you techniques dealers make to get more money out of you and how you can get the best deal.
The profit for the dealer from paying MSRP on a 545 is about $ 10,000, with the salesperson making at least $ 3000 for the sale. Not bad for a few hours work. So you have a lot of room to manouver.
