You can't troubleshoot a foreign car with a basic code reader. They are too complex.
It may have generic SRS reset, but the BST error that throws the airbag notification will be in the SGM. So if you can't read BMW codes, you're not going to see the code.

I've never seen the BST itself throw the SRS light. It's always been paired with an error for a device apart of the SRS system (seat belt, occupancy mat, etc.), with us knowing it is the BST causing the issue.

BST throws an airbag notification in the i-Drive along with the SRS icon. I got thrown off initially because I had no airbag codes but I did have BST code in SGM. I cleared that, and the airbag notification and SRS icon extinguished. That's because BST works in conjunction with the airbag circuitry.

Yea no I've never had no code when the idrive tells me something is wrong. It's always showed me a seat belt or airbag that didn't pass the voltage check then I verify it by scanning it. That's when I know to do what I do with the BST cable to get it back right. My SGM has only given a code when my SZL is acting up. Which has been twice since I've owned the car.

Mine throws the SGM fault 100-percent of the time.

But thanks to you, I have no more intermittent airbag notification. That was driving me crazy, and I did not want to do the BST bypass trick.

Yeah you were thinking the same thing I always thought. I was not going to do the bypass. I did manage to get a cable out the junk yard and soldered a resistor to it but never installed it. I have it just in case. I made it so it plugs into the existing plug. I wonder why no one ever does that.

Because its a lot of work to forage for parts at a junkyard.
