E60 audio upgrade
#22
Do you have any problem with the Bluetooth after installing this system and the central speaker? http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/...-ms-8-a-5.html
There are complains that after doing this upgrade when calling someone on telephone and using the onboard BT connection, you hear a disturbing echo in the speakers.
Is this true?

To be honest, I haven't used the BT phone function much. Maybe twice and no complaints from me or the caller. That link mentions people running the MS-8 in L7 mode with NO center. I have center's on mine so maybe that's the key. I'll have to test it out again. Then again, as I mentioned I didn't get any complaints. Maybe I'll notice it if I look for it.

Got it. I understood that the problem is at the configuration with center speaker. That's also the configuration that i want to do in my E60.
So... i should not expect this kind of problem.

I don't have PDC, However, when I first set it up the seatbelt, door, and other audible warnings were pretty loud. It turns out that I had the MS-8 system volume turned up too high. With that high setting, I was also getting some buzz in the speakers when I turn the lights on even with the radio off. I just turned the system volume down and recalibrated and all is good. Here's the final settings I have
- skip input setup
- Sub = 2, subsonic at 24dB at 40Hz, low pass at 200Hz at 12dB
- front = 1-way
- center = 1-way, 200Hz at 24dB
- sides = 1-way, 200Hz at 24dB
- rear = none
Underseat woofers = subs
Front speakers = front 1-way
Rear speakers = sides 1-way
Center speaker = center 1-way
Calibration volume = -23 dB
System volume = -12dB
I did tweak the EQ afterwards to my liking.
