Default E60 535i Engine Noise

I have been having a misfire near the top end. I have a jb4+ but uninstalled it a couple months ago. Today I was planning on installing it again to pull the codes and try to diagnose. I started my car to pull it in and I heard what sounded like valves to me. Is this normal on a cold engine? I haven't heard it before because the hood insulates the sound. I have also ordered new spark plugs.

Here are the links to the videos.

sounds like piston slap too me. Not uncommon on cold engines in the automotive world.

Sounds normal. DI injectors are LOUD - that's why there's 5 pounds of sound insulation under the engine cover.

Thanks guys. I thought it might be normal as it was cold, but just never heard it before because of all the insulation. I plan on getting new spark plugs and if that doesn't fix the misfire, coils are next.

I'm going to check mine, that doesn't sound that nice to me but I do hear a ticking sound.

It's normal. When I had my engine cover off for day doing coils and vacuum line replacements it sounded like that on start up.
