Hi.

Every time I turn on my car (2006 525i) I get this error.

DSC Deactivated.

What does this mean?

Thanks

It means your stability control system is not working/traction control--stuff that keeps you straight and tires hooked up in a severe situation something you want to get fixed unless your a pro on a track 100 percent of the time.

Can be multiple things froma short fuse, electrical problem, to a mechanical problem.

I hope you have a warranty of some type--typically something like DSC will involve electrical componenents of some type to some degree and will be costly-i hope not!

Needs to go on diagnostics... Could be thorttle valve sensor, could be speed sensor on traction control, could be a lot of things but it deactivates it so you have to take it to dealer and get it sorted. They do tht as a safety feature

Good point, it often is something cheap but for example if one of the yaw sensors goes that senses which direction your car is going and it did not shut off right away, then the stability control would go haywire and start braking, turning your wheel, decreasing throttle input etc and cause an accident-so its like better off just shut down big or small problem.

Without the DSC, you basically ready to drift. Especially under rain condition or wet road, that's extremely dangerous. His 525 is as fast as any 04 or 05 530i and the HP really have nothing to do with the DSC.

I don't know why I keep thinking HP when I see 525 Anyways, I totaled my first E60 due to no DSC on, under raining condition. I didn't know my DSC is off until I spun out 180 degree and head on with a truck, then I realized I accidentally touched the button and turned it off. Now I always look to make sure it's on.
