The thing I think people misunderstands is that you activate DTC. Which means that DSC is restricted. Not that hard.
What do you mean by "DSC is restricted"? If you mean that DSC is less intrusive and no longer prevents wheel spin, you are correct!

As stated above in my posts, its a matter of terminology. Pressing DTC enables Dynamic Traction Control which allows wheel spin, ie disables traction control.
To disable DSC and everything (consequently disabling DTC mode), press and hold the DTC button for several seconds until the yellow light comes on.
Press once or restart the car to go to full on DSC and traction control.

I used both modes on track although I didn't specifically test how much (wheel spin or sliding) each mode allowed. I did immediately notice less intrusion exiting corners in DTC mode and seemingly no intrusion with everything disabled.

or .... refraining from restating their own explanation, only to add to the confusion they caused the first time around !! Sheesh!!

I think I finally got it, several posts earlier, from Hotlap above... I won't know for sure until I take delivery on my new car (placing the order tomorrow). Hope I have all this figured out by the time it arrives

If you all had a Mach 5 like mine, you would just push the "B" button on the steering wheel for the super grip tires!

Other than that I'm still studying up on this feature in the vehicle manual. Test tomorrow!!!!

I think somebody should start a thread about integrating an Ipod with DTC, that surely would end up being the most read / searched thread ever!

Anyway, I've realised I was wrong in my earlier post. I read my HUD again today, it says "DTC Activated, DSC Restricted" when you push the button once.

There are three modes in the E60;

1) Default mode - DSC
2) Push DTC button once - DTC
3) Push and hold DTC button - everything off

I think the confusion that I had (and I expect others) is that we thought DTC and DSC were both "on" and two different technologies. This is not the case. The DTC/DSC simply tells you what _type_ of technology is being used. By default, you have DSC. This is not in addition to DTC. Push the button and you get DTC which in effect is a "reduced" version of DSC. Push and hold and switches it off.

So it goes DSC --> DTC --> OFF .... three distinct options which are never selected at the same time, only one of the three.

Russ is correct on this. I get the same message relayed via HUD.

So I wonder why only Jonathan's HUD gives that message?

You quite clearly hacked in to all of our cars yesterday and updated our HUD messages.
