BMW can instal an "I agree" screen before all changes that will dissolve their responsability.? Or at least makes the plaintiff think twice before sueing BMW.
That would be funny though. Having to acknowledge an agree screen before you are allowed to open the door.

1. Good for you.
The unlocking feature is there for other countries, and I do wish I had the choice to enable it.? I am sure I'll get use to it eventually, but my passengers (wife, business associates, clients, friends....etc) may not.? I just have to remember to unlock the car everytime we stop.
2. I have 4 close friends whom are attornies and we do meet on weekly basis.? Their area of specialties are each distinctive; Labor law/worker's comp, Product liability/patent, General liability/insurance, and Criminal Law/defense.? You wouldn't believe what type of stories I had to listen from these guys. Some ridiculus, but others were educational.
Your example given above just made my point. Frivolous=Stupid lawsuits.? I am sure that even with the current non-auto-unlock set up, the lawyers will still find creative ways to sue. :'(
By the way, you are in canada.? What are you doing following the development of OUr legal system????

2. Yes, I'm sure. Even if they win frivolous lawsuits there is still huge cost to defend. These costs are not recoverable because the person sueing has no substantial assets.
2a. Hard not to follow what happens in the U.S. and I've seen it even on this very board - people wanting to sue BMW e.g. class action lawsuit over bluetooth.

If you have it set to unlock only the drivers door, turning off the engine opens the drivers door.
If you have it set on all doors, all doors will be unlocked at engine shut off.

I just got my car back from the dealer, and asked them to program my key lock so when I pushed it once, all four doors unlocked. It took them about 10 minutes.
Maybe I'm not understanding exactly what you had done. That is a check box in I-drive that you could have done in 5 secs. Wolverine? is that really you?
