I find it annoying too. However I like the pull twice on the lever feature to unlock.
The problem is that I sometimes put my briefcase behind the driver. Now I am outside the car and 3 of the 4 doors are locked. Thank God for the remote key in my hand.

That is EXACTLY why I'd like the unlock all doors feature as well. I am always coming around to open a back door for my briefcase or kids, etc. And reaching back in my pocket to fumble around. The E320 does this no problem.

The reason is that when you go to get something out of the back, you have to unlock the door with your remote, which is just aggravating.

Maybe it is just me, however, when I go somplace and there is something in the back seat I either push the button on the dash to unlock all of the doors before I get out or I do use the key in my hand. I guess I have just become accustom to always locking my car doors when I go someplace. That said, I usually don't have to fumble for the keys in my pocket because they are already in my hand as I get out of the car because I will be locking the door. Am I the only one that thinks that way????

So rather than having to press a little button either on the car or on your key, you would rather have all the doors unlock when you switch off, allowing anyone around you to open a door whenever you stop the engine?

NO way for me, its a huge security risk

German spec E0...

If you have it set to unlock only the drivers door, turning off the engine opens the drivers door.
If you have it set on all doors, all doors will be unlocked at engine shut off.

I am surprised.
My wife's Toyota can do that.

Thats the only thing it can do. I hated it. it locks when you twist the ignition and unlocks when you twist off... ESPECIALLY when all the doors arnt closed yet it will lock and then auto unlock again... So I alaways end up waiting till the last person got in the car then closes the door THEN i can start the engine... on a Hot day that is ANNOYING!!!!!!!

I don't know what Toyota you were driving, but the one we have does not lock the doors until you actually put the car from "P" into "D". And on the end of your trip it only unlocks the doors when you move from "D" back to "P". You can start your egine and the doors will stay unlocked until you are ready to drive off. To me this is a great feature.

That's exactly how I would like it to work.
Does anybody know if that is possible in the US?

It makes no sense to me to have them unlock automatically.? Why even bother to set the autolock if you want them to do that?? Are the bad guys only at stop lights where you live?? I don't use the autolock but often lock the car manually.? I don't think that pulling the handle twice is such a big deal.

Pulling the handle twice doesn't unlock all doors. This is what's bothering us, not the drivers door being pulled twice.

I have 2 childrens that must be unbuckled and exited by adults. I always forget to push the center button, so going back into the car for the 2nd time is a frequent affair for me.

I am also a golfer, so the trunk must be unlocked by the center switch too. My passenger and I often walk out of the car for our golf bags only to find the trunk was locked.

I don't know what litigation BMWNA is affraid of getting slap with, that's preventing this unlock feature being implemented in our cars. I am sure it's stupid.
