There has been a lot of discussion about the new 20 something CIP.
But what does the CIP 20.xx.xx mean?

We all have the iDrive which is now called the CID (Central Information Display)
with all its features.
Some of us have Nav, Logic 7, Car Access System, DS or DD, SMG etc.

But how could a new CIP improve all engines from the "old" R6 M54 to the
new V8's (N62TU).
What about the new R6 N52's and the "old" N62 engines.

The diesels (M57) has also changed a lot since the introducion of the E60 in '03.

?

good question.... I have the old 3.0 petrol......
Is there anybody from Europe with the same "simple" car spec as me?
I wonder if the new CIP would help in any way?? Except MP3 and DLR option......

This link has the text from BMW for the SI B for cip 20. It details any changes that the software provides for various prior problems.

Yes, it does appear to address performance issues with a number of engines relative to cip 19.
