No doubt the BMW Safety Systems helped prevent serious injury to you and your wife. GL getting your car sorted out and back on the road!

Living in Toronto I can't say I know where your coming from, I dont wish that on anywhere. But I do know about the 401 DISASTER!!! Im glad you and the wife are safe. Car is just a car and always fixable. Did you mention to the insurance company about the 62" plasma that went flying out the window while you were spinning? lol Can't wait to see how she looks when shes back!

Also, which body shop did you take her to?

-Mike
Forgot to mention the plasma! Damn.
What was really weird was the three baskets in my trunk were all in different positions. The heaviest one normally behind the rear seat was against the trunk lid. And my sunglasses which normally sit on the console were in the back seat. I wouldn't have believed this car could spin so tightly in such a compact circle, especially on dry pavement. Once we started to spin I steered into the turn like on a snowy parking lot and slammed on the brake pedal when I realized we were heading backwards toward the guardrail. The cop mentioned I probably prevented some serious injuries. The DTC and ABS systems were also offline in iDrive and the dashboard. But she ran.

I drove it to 'York Mills Automotive Centre' on Leslie St. The place is full of BMW, Mercedes and this week a 2010 Maserati in need of a bumper. In business a long time with a good reputation. They allow me to visit any time I want (twice so far).

Thought I'd give a final update on our accident. Auto body had the car for two weeks (got it back Jan. 19). Visited car three times.
After pickup I took the car to my BMW dealer for an inspection (paid for by auto body shop) and it passed with full written certification that car was all within factory specifications.
New parts were left front fender, front wheel well, side marker light, drivers door metal skin, rocker panel, left rear rim, rear bumper, complete left rear suspension.
Repaired parts were front bumper, drivers ext mirror (NOT a repaint), rear passenger door, metal arch above rear wheel, rear tire.
Car runs absolutely perfect with no rattles, squeaks or glitches. Everything runs just like before (including my wife and I). The paint job on entire left side was perfect. If my pics post OK, any visual flaws are strictly from the camera angles, lighting and reflections.
I am extremely happy. It cost me $0 and it cost the other guys ins. co. $14,125 for the repairs and $1,011 for the car rental.
I hope this never happens to anyone but if it does I hope you have a similar outcome.
