Huh?

I hate it when I have to have my VIN and talk to a dealer or look for an icon (maybe) to see if I have a costly and widely praised feature. But, then the problem may be my lack of sensitivity to AS. On the brighter side, I also have been a quick adjuster to car differences. How may revs lock to lock with and without? You may have answered above. I'll look back.

Wait, Is there a way I could call a dealer or even go to a website and give my VIN number too see if I have AC?

Also what does IMHO stand for?
imho = in my honest opinion

I haven't had time to go out and count the turns lock-to-lock but three seems right for AS.

I'm hoping that someone else posts the answer to save me some time.

As far as a "yellow icon" representing AS, I don't think that's true...

I can confirm that there is a yellow icon (a steering wheel with a expression mark) It lights up for a sec or two when you start up the car.

If vnod has the active steering (I think he does) then this is a true testimont on how great this feature really is. Puts to shame all those magazine reports about how bad it is. HE CANT EVEN TELL IF HE HAS IT

I have an Sept 05 build 535sport and it doesnt have AS. It was an optional extra....seems like its so un-noticable that I'm glad I didnt get it. Does it really exist!!!

Hey Rudy,
I'm right on this one:

Pg. 81 in the 2005 owners manual says that a yellow icon for active steering will illuminate if there is a warning for that system.

When you first turn on the car, all warning lights illuminate, then go out. One of those icons is of a steering wheel with an "!" next to it. It's for active steering.

I find it hard to believe someone with AS would not notice. At full stop (0 mph) and from dead center it is about 330 degrees either way to full left or right lock. Can almost do it without moving both hands planted at proper location on steering wheel, almost. If you turn the wheel more than that u have non-AS. THere might be some subtle differences based on CIP version as we have seen some CIP bulletins state they did something to AS to make it better(??) And yes, there is a PICTOGRAPH (Icon to some) for AS. Usually listed in the early (first 10 - 20) pages under Warning and Indicator lamps section in the manual as they drill down on the console information. Probably in specific topics as well as cattman indicated.

Or you can just open your hood and look for the active steering module It is on the left hand side and is very easy to spot. It has four connections on the top and an active steering sticker on the side. I have a picture of it, but I can not get it uploaded.
