Hey Guys

I just read in a review that all 04 530i with the sports package has active stearing..is that true? I've been driving my car for about 2 weeks now and just wondered if I have it. I don't think so, but I never know..and it doesn't seem to drive like it has it...

thanks

I have 06 530i with sports package, and I just found out I don't have active steering few days ago.

If you have the sport package on a 2004 530i, then you should have active steering.

At a standstill, how many turns of the steering wheel does it take to go from lock-to-lock?

I believe all 04 & 05 5 Series with sport package come with active steering. 06 models w/sports package must order active steering as an extra option.

Hmmm,,, really? I odn't think I have it but I coul dbe wrong? Is there a faster way to find out if I have AS? I think I do have to turn it several times into a parking spot....it's definitley NOT a half turn.

That spec should have AS. Perhaps you've just adapted to it without realising...

There's no easy way to tell (unless it fails!) A dealer could probably confirm...

where are you located first off, please update your profile...you MAY have A/S if have a 530i sport, but you should definitely have it if you have a US spec 530isport

How many revolutions total does it take to go from the extreme right to the extreme left while standing still? (It will be more than a half-turn...)

It takes 1 1/2 complete rotations to go from straight to complete left or complete right. SO it takes a TOTAL of about 3 complete revolutions to go from complete right side to complete left side while car is standing still.

I live in NewYork.

So you guys are saying I should have it..my dealer told me that it was actually an option that came with the sports package. Could it be turned off...is there a way it can be disengaged?

thanks

IMHO is pretty easy to tell - I've got 2 E60's one with AS the other without - the one without AS requires me to turn 2 revolutions to execute a 90 deg turn out of my carpark

also without AS the steering is HEAVIER.
