This afternoon, when I started my 2005 530i to go home from work, I noticed that display only showed BMW logo for sometimes and then turned black and then BMW logo then black then BMW logo then black ..... Radio, CD/DVD were not working at all. Car was driving fine. After about 30 minutes of cycling between BMW logo and black screen, display came back as normal. Radio, CD/DVD, etc worked fine. This happens every times when I start the car. Number of BMW logo/black screen cycling varies and time taken to back to normal display varies too.

What could be the problem here, the center screen is dying or something else is blocking the SW to boot ?

My CCC system was cycling the logo, then black screen. Like what you're decribing. Forums first said to reboot, which didn't do anything. The I checked MPM in trunk for wetness, but MPM was already moved to a dry place and had no moisture. I ended up sending my cd/nav unit out to bmwlogicseven.com and they repaired it and has worked perfectly ever since. Check on their website for symptoms and possible fixes. Good luck.

• did you pay for the repair up front or afterward ?

I sent it to them on June 5th 2017 and got it back two weeks later. He gave me the option to pay up front or pay after they figured out if they could even fix it. I paid upfront.

I sent my CCC to bmwlogicseven.com for repair. I got it back in 1 week. After putting CCC back to car, I redid all the setup such as time, date, etc ... I tested radio, phone, navigation and voice command. All worked except voice command and no sound in navigation.

I called bmwlogicseven.com and was told that they upgraded CCC firmware to latest so voice command would not work until I upgrade my TCU firmware to latest. Also, they suspected that no sound in navigation could be related to TCU firmware not the latest. They would not upgrade TCU firmware; I have to search online and do it myself

Any idea where to find information about latest TCU firmware and instruction to upgrade ?

So, sometimes the cycling is caused by overheating. The overheating is caused by a faulty fan inside the CCC unit. Perhaps you can check that.

For the Voice Control, BMW needs to enter a so-called unblocking code. When you have this from factory, its already there, but when the CCC is replaced, it needs to be re-entered. This code can only be obtained from BMW.

 

How can you check the faulty fan ?
