So earlier this month I upgraded my stereo system which I posted in a previous post. Long story short, when the installer told me he had to bypass my subwoofer amp, I told him I didn't know I had stock subs or otherwise I wouldn't have installed the 12" in the trunk. So, what did I finally get around to doing this evening, I unscrewed the grill screws from under the driver seat and what do I see?!?!?! I thought I had a standard stereo with only front and rear speakers with tweeters. Come to find out I have subs and what looks like a center channel, but I didn't open that up because I don't have the tools. Seriously thinking of scrapping my sub in the trunk and just upgrading the 8" subs. The bass is still trapped in the trunk anyways and I'd prefer my sound in the cabin and clear. I currently have the 4" Focal coaxals, 12" JL W0, ARC Audio 5 channel 600 watt D Class amp, and LC6i audio processor. Excluding the 12", I should be good with a set of 8" subs right? Tell me what you guys think.

There is tons upon tons of info on this subject. Use the search field and type in stock subwoofer or audio upgrade or anything to do with stereo or speakers and you will get more info than you could possibly need. Good luck, sounds like you're on the right track.

i think most people upgrade to 8" earthquake subs, but you will need to power it with a stronger amp and make some extension brackets because they are a little deeper. i think there is a lot more info on this on the e90post.com forum.
