Iceman posted this picture a while back which shows some of the improvements between MY04 and MY05:

It states a "Larger" stowage space with lid under the steering wheel area...am I missing something? I don't have ANY stowage space under there??

Depends where you are. In US for example, there is no stowage space there while in Europe there is.

Hello

That picture was originally posted by my fellow South African BMW#4. It was from a letter to dealers showing the changes from March 2005, which will be MY06 in the USA.

Outside the USA we get a stowage space, the USA gets extra knee protection instead to comply with safety regulations ( this has happened with a number of models, example E39 had a very different dash for europe and USA)

Yep. E60Speed is right. For the US it is some extra knee protection there instead of the storage.
Safety regulations...

All in all, much ado about nothing, in my opinion.

AFAIK, there is no Ruthenium element in the current 05' 545i that I saw in the dealer the other day. Could it be European model only?

The pic says 03/05, so I assume starting with March '05 production. My '05 545i has everything new in the pic, except those A/C vent tabs--and the stowage space!
