My E60 530d has done 85k miles and the DPF has 50k left. Today the Idrive gave a DPF failure message. I know the DFP regenerates itself so I took the car on the motorway and done 75mph in 4th gear, just over 3000rpm for at least 30 mins. I have not noticed the car in the regeneration mode before so I do not know if it had engaged. This trip did not clear the message.
Using Proscan and a ELM232 scanner I checked the engine for error codes. Two came up error codes as follows:
P0193 - fuel Rail Pressure Sensor High Input
P0237 - Turbo Charger Boost Sensor Circuit Low
No loss of power or any other noticeable change. Turbo kicks in as normal.
One thing I noticed when I plugged in my top end tuning box (ChipExpress £399+) the turbo did not engage so I removed it. This error appeared a few days after. I am going to try making sure the coolant temperate is above 75 degrees using Proscan before attempting another regeneration. I also know the exhaust temp must before over 240 degrees but I have no option to check this in Proscan or other method.
1. If I can't get the error to clear how difficult is it to remove, wash and dry the DFP from my car? People have done this before on the web with success.
2. I have a bottle of CATACLEAN. Will this help clear the crap out? or should I try something like RedeX?
3. Will the updated ELM327 allow the reporting of exhaust temp?
Any help would be appreciated.

and I did not understand the sequence of events around that tuning box and what it has to do with the DPF?
