Dension Gateway 500 with AVR

Hi
I really hope someone who has already done this could help me out here. I have installed a Dension Gateway 500 with AVR into my E60, Prior to this i got the dealer to complete a full iDrive upgrade to enable MP3 support. I did not have the the iPhone docking cable which had to be orderered from a seller on the net but the cables packaging suggests that it is actually a Dension product. Anyway the problem I am having is that it does not recognise my iPhone 3GS when plugged in. The video's do not appear on the iDrive either. Please if anyone has got this connected and working, your help would be greatly appreciated.
