I went out of town on Wednesday last week and of course my 545 showed up at the dealer on Thursday, one day short of 11 weeks from drop off. I picked it up today. I still have not recieved a clear explanation of why it took so long. Perhaps this week I will get that when I return a call to the ED people. I emailed and called BMW NA and Group in Germany and apparently hit a nerve last week. I just wish I could have had their attention earlier. One explanation I got was that they simply lost track of several cars in December. Fortunately, there is no record of damage and the car appears to have been shipped unscathed.
Although it is near monsoon conditions here in southern California, I was able to get out and drive it today. What a great car! Power, handling, comfort! Fantastic! I had driven it for two weeks in Europe, but I hadn't really had a chance to push it a little in familar surrounds. Driving a car like this on unfamilar roads limits you quite a bit. I can't wait 'til it dries out here and I can enjoy it even more.
