Woke up this morning and went to go to work and guess what - click, click, click and a cycling of all the warning lights. Is this a symptom of alternator and/battery does anybody know?

The power module has not sent the car to sleep and has caused your battery to drain.
Replacement of the power module fixed this for me (and the iDrive and PDC and and and ).

Thanks Dave, it keeps coming back to the power module so this must be the route to try! I await BMW recovery and if it is one of their technicians I will ask him his opinion. I will keep you all updated to the continueing saga.....

UPDATE:

BMW tech came out when the car would not start. The battery was drained and only showed 10v. He also checked and found when the battery had been submerged there is a lead attached to the red main HT lead from the battery. this lead checks the power available in the battery at all times and when the battery dips lower it will shut off certain systems. My lead was coroaded and faulty meaning that the car did not shut everything down when the engine was switched off.

I spoke with the dealer and he will replace tomorrow with everything else. BMW Uk have agreed to complete all the work free of charge even though it is not covered by the used approved warranty. Thank god for that!

Lets hope tomorrow sees it fixed!!!!!!!!

UPDATE

The car is back from the dealer and is like new - SM Tony was fantastic. They even cleaned it inside and out to within an inch of it's life. The whole car has had to be reprogrammed and they replaced the CCC, PDC module and a wiring loom along with both vents in the trunk/boot.

Anyway thanks to all of you who gave advice and support.

Ken
