Are you able to see the wire colors going to the connectors?

These are the DIN color names used:
WS = white
BL = blue
RT = red
OR = orange

WS/BL means a wire that is overall White with a Blue stripe.
WS/RT is White with Red.

Okay, I think I can look and find out the colors of the wires.

From the attached picture, can you or anyone please tell me which vanos solenoid is for the intake? Is it #1 or #2?

Just curious, since both vanos solenoids and their connectors look identical, what would happen if they are connected backward? Can they cause the engine to misfire or do some other weird stuff?

Confirmation: Thanks to twh's help.
From the attached thumbnail (picture I provided), #1 is the vanos solenoid for the intake and #2 is for the exhaust.

 

The picture has the solenoids labeled.

Each solenoid has two wires.

Intake has Orange and White-with-Blue.

Exhaust has Orange and White-with-Red.

Gottcha...here is another picture from that same web site that has the connecter locations. Use the first picture to get the connecter id and then look at this one.

 

Okay, thanks! I finally got confirmation that I connected the vanos solenoids correctly. lol

For the record, the top vanos solenoid (#1) is for the intake. And the bottom (#2) is for the exhaust.

Per twh:

Each solenoid has two wires.
