I was told that a dealer needs to program my car and keys to set my preferences. What for? I had the car drop shipped to my house several weeks ago from the port in Charleston, SC. I have never even been to the dealership, long story. I set up my iDrive preferences for two different keys (mine and the wife's). Everything adjusts when I get in depending on which key I am using. Includes settings for seat, mirrors, climate, wheel, radio. What else would the dealer set up, if anything? It didn't require any "programming" beyond setting up iDrive preferences. Ideas?

The car comes with 2 sets of keys - eg. One for you / one for your wife

The programming is for programming the settings that either of you prefer (eg. seat positions) to a particular set of key, so that everything always go back to the way you set it before!
