DEALER ON INSTALLING NON RUNFLATS
Funny - at my dealer they had a list of approved tires. These included RFTs and non RFTs - including the PS2 I believe. There are aftermarket/dealer warranties of tires/rims. They basically are like road hazard protection.
Also - dealer doesn't want to deal with tirerack. Mine wanted to charge about $450 a tire for a $300 tire. Why should they give up that kind of profit - $10 a piece is cheap.

Rubbish, I e-mailed BMW in the UK and they told me it was fine to install non-run flats. The wheels can except either. I'm sure they would have mentioned something about the warrenty being void if it was true.

I've been using Discount Tire lately. The place is amazing. They match Tire Rack's shipped price, they install the tires in 30 minutes, they provide free lifetime balancing and tire repair - I just can't say enough about this place.
I had 28,000 on my runflats, and got a flat. Decided to try the ps2's, with no problem. Tires Plus near my house had them in stock, and was within price range of Tire Rack.
Why have them shipped when a local dealer can handle all of this for you? They took me home instead of having to wait, and picked me up. I'd pay more for service like that, but didn't have to. They also provided premium road hazard protection for no additional cost.
I'm not sure I notice that much of a difference between the run flats and the non-run flats. I guess maybe I kept reading about how noticeable the difference was, and built it up in my mind.

Just spoke to parts guy at my dealer about having michellin PS2s installed on my 550. I asked if I could get them drop shipped there from tire rack. There response was, we STRONGLY do not recomend you install non RFs on the car because the rims are made for RFs. So I told him that alot of people have done this with no problems, he agreed, but told me it would void the warranty that BMW gives for there tires. He also told me that it would cost $10 per tire for them handling the delivery  Anyway I will go there tommorow to get this straitened out. I spent $70,000.00 and they want to charge me $40.00 for accepting a delivery. Its bad enough they put these crap run-flats on to begin with.

In sum, they try hard, but they do not have the accurate specialty info that Tire Rack seems to maintain.
