Seems like something that they could add for both CCC and M-ASK cars...since earlier software builds on US cars didn't have that option, I wonder if it'll be available for all of us someday in the future?
What's CCC and M-ASK? Car's OS?

Nav Pro (standard nav in the US) has the CCC.
No nav and nav bus is M-ASK.
CCC comes with two slots, one DVD slot for nav disc and one CD slot, and with the bigger screen.

CCC and M-ASK are the two different computers that are used on the E60.

if you go to vehicle settings on idrive (ie press the selector knob once) you'll see the menu appear at the top of the screen. scroll along to 'lights' and press selector once. in the next menu you scroll down to vehicle running lights you then toggle on or off using the selector.
It may have to do with the jurisdiction the car is sold in. For example, in Canada, DRL are required by law. If you import a car from the US you must have DRL enabled and have it inspected before licensing. I have a Canadian car and can not access DRL in my idrive. Just a guess but I imagine you are not allowed to have an option that disables them in this jurisdiction.
