hi everybody,

i just went thru some old posts here in the forum about Day Time Running Lights.
Actually I do have a similar option in my E61 (i'm posting here as i believe this option
is pretty much the same on both e60 and e61).

I was just curious to ask : with the Day Time Running Lights on, with a bi-xenon
headlight system, which lamp you have on ? The xenon or the inner one (that used
for flashing a slower car in front of you )

as always, thank you very much for your opinion !

DRL uses the inner, non-xenon lamps, I believe...

Hi Rudy,

thank you very much for your reply, do you think I can have this set by the
dealer ?

My Day Time Running Lights option uses the xenon, which is a non sense,
IMHO the Day Time Running Lights option should also extend the xenon bulb
life.

thx in advance, Alberto

Really? I dont think thats correct. DRLs are suppose to use non xenons (inner flash to pass halogen) bulbs

and you know, better be prepared ..... just fonud today a technical service
that says my dvd needs to be replaced while they were claiming "recoding" was

In the Nordic counties the daylights are obligarory.

It's the normal Xenons that burns, in half-beam.

I actually have the light switch "on" all the time!

I have mine set with DRL on (US spec car) and the Xenons are on all the time... I believe this is noted in the manual, although it's pretty subtle...

My DRLs are not the Xenons but the inner non xenons. Picked up from dealer that way.

I need a scorecard to keep track of all the differences in DRL settings between countries!

One thing to keep in mind for those that are trying to gather data -- you should verify the DRL's with the headlight switch in the off (12 o'clock) position since the automatic setting often results in the headlights being on...
