Yea BMW cupholders might as well not exist. They really suck! Now if they had some wicked nifty designs like MB does...BMW would for surely be number 1 in everyones eyes!

i was wondering if anyone has a quick fix for this????
Quickest fix ? That's easy. Stop closing it If you leave it open all the time, you'll not have to keep opening it.

This is interesting, because mine doesn't always open either. I have to manually pull it open if I decide to use it. But I haven't spilled anything in the car. Hmmm. I use to like them before I started having issues.

maybe some soda or something spilled on the gears gumming it? Cup holder is good from the driver side......but sitting in the passenger seat the holders suck. My wife wacked the hell out of her knee getting in the car one time....Nice bruise for a week or so

When you pull the cup holder out manually there are two tork screws under black circles. You can remove the whole unit that way to clean it, you dont have to remove your dash. If after cleaning it and it still doesnt come out on its own see if BMW will do a good faith replacement. Tell them its not opening as it should. I know they did that for me when a guy I was seeing decided to hang a shopping bag on it while we were going on a road trip, the whole front plate ripped off . PS the guy is history and the cup holder is fixed hahah...

Good Luck,
JiL
Thanks I will try that
