Recently, I had to swap cars with my wife. When she was pulling out of the driveway, I noticed a creaking sound when she put the car into reverse from park while still on the brakes. It sounded like an old bed spring, not continuous just once. So after she got back home, with the windows rolled down in the garage, I went through the same steps as what my wife did in the morning and sure enough that creaking noise was there again. It seems to happen no matter if putting the car in reverse or drive while on the brakes. Is this normal or a sign of something bigger going wrong soon?

Btw, about a month ago, the dealer replaced the back brake pads. I'm not sure if this sound was there before though, so not sure if that helps. Anyone else experience something similar? My car is a 2008 535xi with 33k miles. Brake feel is unchanged pre and post brake job. No other sounds from the brakes. And dealer has been pretty good servicing the car so far.

Hey mate I was thinking is just me with this problem... I checked everywhere and the only one I found with this problem is you. The same I hear and I am sure is not from brakes. It is from rear axle group... I was thinking is because of the oil (maybe needs to be changed). I went to bmw, bought the right oil and change it. Nothing. I checked everything on suspension and shock absorbers. Still Nothing. I changed wheel bolts, new tyres, new alloys (i know is nothing to do with it but just saying). Again nothing...
Then a mechanic told me that rear axle group is getting worn and is a normal thing to rear wheel drive... I have 115.000 uk miles on the clock, what about you?! I hope someone will help. Thank you

Oh and i forgot to tell you... My car is 59 plate which means september 2009
