About two years ago, I bought M5 replica wheels for my 06 530i online. I equipped them with quality tires, etc and I do live in NYC now and we all know what the streets are like here, but I've experienced not 1, not 2, but 3 seperate cracked wheels. Each did occur after a pothole, but not such a jarring pot hole as to damage anything else, and in the first case it was outer lip, second and third were inner lip, the last one I noticed tire was flat, brought it to shop, they inspected wheel and said I needed new tire, put it on, woke up, tire flat again (and ruined) as the wheel had a hairline crack they missed. Obviously I'm not happy but I love the look of the care. Is it possible the replica's are just super cheap and I should invest in a better pair or is it just the cost of having 19's on the car?
I need some help and advice because I want to know whether to scrap the rims for what I can get for them or just try to not drive it around in the city but what fun is that.

i dont think its the 19 inchers that are getting you.. i have stock 19 " 172's and i have hit some potholes.. (as most of us have in NYC) but none have cracked my rim (wish it would-another topic)
maybe the replica you bought wasnt well made? thats about all i can say about that.. and the type of tire? honestly not my topic.. but i dont think its the size.. if you had 20's i would say maybe.. depending on your driving, but it doesnt seem to be the case.. maybe someone who has more knowledge of replica's and wheels can help.. sorry your goign through this crap.. it can be quite frustrating GL

You would still have some issues w/ 19" profile in crappy streets like NJ and NY.. Probably w/ OEM may be less bad events.. Even I have 166 OEM wheels sitting in basement.. I got flat tire, then rim bent.. cost: $350+ to replace to the tire, install, balance and all. But, still debating if I want to fix those wheels

hit up Gerry, 1600+ for OEM set!
I don't know him, I've been on this board since 06 but haven't logged on much of late. Is that for a new set?

Don't b mad, I like many others on here have had the same thing happen to the O.E wheels. I have the 124's, and I hit a pothole didn't notice anything that day. But the next day Inoticed the flat tire icon on. Took the wheel off and found a crack on the inner lip. Cost to get fix at wheel shop is 145.00. Now I hesitent about getting 20's.
