Hummm ok. so I guess I dont have to worry about it. The G-Meter is jiio's so unless he wants to change it to get it to be more accurate for a IS... Otherwise I dont think the cares anymore. Hes more interested in lowering his time instead. Or out running me on the highway.

Now I want to Time my 545... but I'm kinda afraid to. I odnt want to see like 5.8 secs... thats going to suck! It'll make me want to sell it. Part of me didnt want the IS to be that fast... It would be nice if the 545 ran 5.00 too... that would be awesome! JOE!

Anyway, back to the topic of launching the SMG to get the best times.

Remember this from dawyeah? Give it a shot hollywood. See if that helps with the time.
Brake with your left feet, gas with your right.

Rev your engine up to 4500 in neutral....

Release the brakes and pop it into D and gun it. (Have 2 seconds to freely go from N to D when you let up on the brake)

This way you don't have to do a hard launch with the launch assist and wait for your engine to rev up and then close the clutch while the car you are racing gets a 1/2 second head start....

I am driving a demo 550i from my dealer while getting the aero kit installed so i decided to screw around and found out that the 550i SMG can be just as real-life fun as manual...

If you try this on your own car... becareful not to gun it too late or you will bog down like like conventional manual trannys.

Have fun!

^^^^^^^^
This sounds the same as what I had just posted earlier.
Crap. Ok, I remember Gears5 saying he used his own method to launch. If I remember correctly, he put the car in neutral, slightly rest his foot on the brake (just enough to let the SMG shift to 1st), apply as much throttle as you want, shift the car to 1st gear and simultaneously let off the brake and then mash it. Will the car shift as aggresively in just sport mode as in AA if this method is used?

There has got to be a good way to launch this car at the precise moment you want to and use the AA, there just has to be!
1. Gear in N
2. Left foot on brake
3. Right foot on throttle, rev up to desired rpms
4. Shift into 1st and at the same time release brake.
5. Only thing I would do different is not mash the throttle, but keep it steady until ready to shift into the next gear.

Heres a post about someone else who used a G-Timer to time his runs...

it seems like low 5s is very common in the IS 350. What did lexus do? Underrate their engine?

Basically, with that setup I was always within .1-.2 of 5.3. After 10 runs I don't have a single time above 5.6. I blew away (on the gtimer) a WRX STI - I don't think the owner knows how to "launch" his car and heavily moded SRT4 - (Who's owner does know how to drive) He had a 5.2 0-60 with no quarter mile times.

I think that the G-timer is fairly accurate, I've used it on quite a few cars and gotten very realistic results.

That's insane. It looks like a Mazda. Quick or not, its still a Toyota.
And you think BMW is superior to Toyota?

After you guys do a few more runs and get consistant with your numbers you should try switching to 101 octane racing gasoline and see if it makes any difference in acceleration.

Guys relax,
There is always someone faster. The IS350 is in a different category compared to pur cars. Try the GS430 or GS460 do 5 secs flat. it CAN"T. We are all room , luxury and ride. Its the perfect combination. The IS350 is light and will move BUT add some of the junk (in addition of the already extra pounds we have ) and they will be running 6s. So different car, different class.
A subaru WRX STI modded slightly can take a 550 or a lexus, a Z4 3.0 can give you a run for you money even a truck can wipe you (Jeep SRT8 or cayenne turbo)..so different class.... what do you thing the LS430 and GS430 owners are saying about that little IS being faster compared to them?
JAJA..practice your launching techniques
