I want to make a backup copy to use and keep the original in safe storage.

Problem is, there is a copyright protection on the DVD (2008-1).

Anyone do this already? If so, how did you go about making the copy?

I copied my 2008-1...no problems with copyright protection...try using Nero Burner, but don't copy the DVD with the 'Copy' function, but choose the 'Backup' option...i think that should do it! Well, at least it worked for me...

The brand of DVD that you use will make a big difference. I most recently used Memorex DVD+R and they are much better than the Verbatim DVD+R that I used previously. I had lots of errors with them. Also, use the slowest write speed that you can set with your software. Search the forum for other comments.

I made backup about business nav 07-2 to Verbatim DVD+R with Nero's disc copy function without errors.

I used a 2008-1 downloaded version for a moment, it worked for routing but had TMC decoding problems. No idea why but it did. A 2007-2 disc worked fine so it's not the equipemnt itself.

so be careful and precise in copying plus check the newer one thoroughly before binning the older one.

Then I guess I must have had a bad batch of them. I tried repeatedly with them using a variety of recording settings and speeds and I always got very slow response by the NAV system which I figured was due to read errors. Some of the disk copies were totally unreadable. As soon as I switched to the Memorex DVD's, the back-up worked just like the original disk.

Used Verbatim DVD+R and TOAST on Mac Os X.5 Leopard: worked fine
