Control arm and bushing life span, how many miles?

w84me- I went to an indy BMW shop and was told that it wasn't the control arms bushings, but there's something in the transmission that shorted out causing the intermittent jerking between 35-45mph. I still need to test drive my car together with the shop foreman and duplicate the jerking.

i've the same issues. and actually there is a thread here about the surging issue. your mechatronics in the transmission have to be changed for 3k-5k, and there is a no way around this. i've been suffering this for the last 20k miles.. with the value of my car.. not worth dealing with it.
