I really have no sympathy for you and it mostly stems from my jealousy. Good day, sir.

I do not envy your decision, it certainly is a difficult one! There are many possible outcomes, but the truth of the matter is that NONE of them is totally satisfactory! Good Luck with your decision!

To me it seems to be an easy decision. If he got reimbursed for work related driving previously then his out of pocket expense for owning the car was minimal. I would just sell the car put any extra money in the bank and drive the Crap-pala. Yes it would hurt me to sell a BMW but with another nice car as a weekend toy it would not be too bad.

I was in a smiliar situation as you, only I had the choice of either using a company car or my own car with car allowance for work. I tried using my own car for the first couple of years but wasn't very cost effective so have now chosen the company car. I am not sure how bad an Impala is but here, we have a Ford Falcon and they are big, powerful and RWD and ok, it's not exactly a BMW but it's not disgraced. It takes away the wear and tear, the high kms and higher depreciation of using my own car so I am better off with a company car. Maybe you will get used to driving the Impala, and at least you have the Porsche for the weekends.

Many would argue (me included) that going from a 993 to a 997 isn't necessarily a "step up". A 997 is just like any other really nice, really high performance car...like an M3 for example. A 993 is like nothing else. It all depends what you want out of a 911...but that is a debate that requires it own thread, and not for a E60 Forum.

What are you talking about??? Whether "they" distinguish between regular and highway miles depends on who "they" is. If you are trading/selling to a dealer they don't distinguish, If you are selling to an individual...they do...or should. The bottom line is this... the price a seller will accept for a car, is determined by how bad he wants to sell the car, simple as that. A buyer will present his case as to why the car should be less than the asking amount. The seller will present why it should be more than the offering price. Ultimately, the seller will decide the price...again, largely based on how bad he wants to sell the car.

Air-cooled 911's = REAL 911

Water-cooled 911's =

You are in a great position to sell because you don't "have to"...I say list it for a tad bit over the high side of retail book value and wait until you find the perfect buyer.... An Enthusiast will appreciate the fact that the car has been soo well taken care of, highway mileage, 6 speed manual, etc....ad they will be willing to pay accordingly. I see the 6speed manual as an advantage in this particular case because they are harder to come by, that would force the person looking for that particular car to pretty much buy new or buy yours....$60k for a new one vs $XXK for this perfect, might as well be new one over here...hmm???

I originally wanted a 6speed I have been driving only manuals for the past 17 years. The 535i is the first car I have ever owned that is auto...I decided to go auto because I had seen the consistently fast numbers the tuned 335's were making and I figured I'd give it a shot...I'm very happy with the decision and adore the steptronic but do I sometimes wish I ALSO had a black on black sport 6speed 535i...you betcha!! I think you can find the buyer.

Besides I still have her, and she's FULLY manual.... manual transmission, manual brakes, manual steering!!! :

Well....as of last night, my company has decided to stop paying mileage/allowance for personal car usage and provide me a company car... I commute 100 miles, Interstate round trip, to work 5 days a week. The new company car will be an Impala or something like that and they will pay everything...gas, maintenance, insurance, washes...everything.

I bought my '08 535i new in 12/07...so it is an LCI model... and it has ~30K miles. It is a 6-speed, black/black, premium, sport, nav, ipod/USB, perfect car. I am afraid that I am gonna be "forced" to sell it because I already have a "weekend" car in my '97 black/black 911, and there is really no way to justify keeping it. I can't tell you how bad this sucks...

Soooo...what do you guys think it is worth...and a little sympathy would be appreciated...
I should have such problems (lol)
