Comfort Access - Yes or No?
#31
$1000!
Like always the folks that have it will defend it as they won't admit otherwise.
It seems cool, no doubt.
But $1000 here and $1000 really starts to add up!
This is my 5th car I am saying no to for NAV/GPS. Thats roughly $10,000 worth! Factor in a decent rate of return and one can see it can be a decent sum.
Sorry, comfort key for that kind of money seems like a bit much. It should be blended in with the Premium package for $200. One day it will be mainstream.
I wonder what the replacement cost is for one of those modules? That ought to be a hoot!

Is it worth $1000? No. Should you get it? Yes. Let me explain. In my opinion, it's one of the dumbest options out there only because it shouldn't be an option. If you don't get CA the simple task of starting the car is a ergonomic nightmare. I wish BMW would either go back to an old fashion key or make CA a standard feature. I have it and love it but I try not to think that I paid $1000 for the option. <_<
I agree its not worth $1,000 and passed on the option a year ago. That said, this option is missed and I'd now let BMW extort me for this. ShXt!!!
One disagreement, the BMW key insert works better than the old fashioned key. Its safer in terms of scratching things and I like the push button start.

Something tells me that we are beyond not admitting our mistakes here on this board. I have no problem telling you that I wish I could have they money I spent on Sirius back and would have then spent it on HUD. Others here will agree - some won't but we don't make this crap up just to cover our mistakes.
Trust me, CA is an incredible option and I can't imagine ever having a car without it. Sort of like Keyless entry way back when - people said "it is just as easy to use your key to unlock the door" - then once you had the remote you realized how nice it was not to use your key. CA takes it to the next step.

Does the car locks itself when you are leaving it or do you have to push the key hole?

Took me weeks to figure out to puch the button twice to Farfield, it's true once you go back to taking a key out it seems so old fashioned and annoying now when I drive me girlfriends car. You don't realize how much better it is until you have to fumble with keys again. Only major problem is it's a pain to lock the car by touching the doorhandle, very sporadic is right to the point I now have to reach into my pocket and press the lock button. I heard sevens had the foirst generation and locked when you walked away, seems much better. To bad there's no way to adjust the sensitivity. I just can't get it to work half the time.

Yes it's worth it. It will increase resell value later.
Fine, $1k for comfort access. Why not just buy an aftermarket viper alarm that has remote start that will cost $400? If you want novelty, thats pretty cool to start your car from your bedroom so you don't have to warm it up in the morning.
I wouldn't pay 1k for a glorified button.
