How do you open the trunk remotely on a car with comfort access?? Do you need to pull on the handle?? I'd miss the remote opening if it's not possible.

Also, what about unlocking the rear doors so I can put my bag in the back seat - how does it know which doors to unlock?? If my wife is being approached by some scumbag is it going to unlock all the doors and let him in?

I had keyless go on my '03 E55 and--as much as I love gadgets and creature comforts--wouldn't get it again, unless it's much cheaper (was ~ $1,000--I didn't order it--was on the only car in dealer inventory). Here's how the MB system worked, which will likely be similar to the BMW system. Keep key in pocket, touch door handle and it unlocks all doors and you pull handle to open the door. There's a momentary delay between touching the door handle and unlocking, so you have to train yourself to not move too quickly, otherwise you'll pull on a locked handle. Worked an all 4 doors. Whenever I was with my kids, I found myself having to use the key to unlock the doors for them since they always seemed to get to the car before I was within range.

To remotely open trunk, or unlock doors, use key as normal. Once inside press start/stop button (or use key as usual).

The good thing is you can choose.....you don't need to use the comfort access, you can still use the "key" to open the boot remotely or similar by pushing the button on the key....For me, a doctor, I make housecalls and am in and out the car like a fiddlers elbow so in this situation, I'd use the C/A but when out and about with Mrs Diesel and the 3 master diesels, I'd just use it like a standard remote.....its a convenience thing...just like auto lights and wipers....I'd miss them now I'm used to them

I agree it's a convenience...but a very expensive one (at least for MB--we'll see for BMW). For a few hundred dollars I get it again, but not for $1,000.

I reckon its going to be a couple of hundred pounds...certainly less than $500 us

Yes, we still visit the elderly, infirm, housebound etc......and healthcare is still free at the point of (ab)use.

wish we earned what US docs did!

You don't really believe that do you? If that were true an M5 would be about 5 years salary....
