I'm ordering a 2010 535xi. I'm leaning towards ordering Deep Sea Blue with the "natural brown" leather interior. I've seen Deep Sea Blue on the new Z4 and I think it's a great color - but I've never seen it on a 5-series. I've seen the natural brown in a 5 and I think it looks great. But I've never seen this particular exterior color with natural brown leather on any BMW. I've seen it with Monaco Blue, but not with this slightly lighter shade of blue. Do any of you have this combination? If so, would you mind posting a photo? It's a little frightening ordering a color combination I've never seen before. I don't want to show up in Munich, get my hopes up, then go "why didn't I just get a black exterior or interior?"

Having never seen this color in person on a 5-series, I'm also curious to know your thoughts on shadowline trim with this color.

Thank you in advance for your help and your thoughts.

I think it will look really good, the combo fits well together (although I haven't seen it either). Shadowline trim goes with all color combos. Good luck with your purchase and welcome to the forum.

Oh and

Do you live in the New York area? If you do, member Kzang and his 535 with the color combo you want is slated to come to our July 25th meet and you could see the car in person. Details are in the thread which is linked at the bottom of my sig line.

Thanks for the quick replies, the link, and the welcomes! Those photos set my mind at ease, as I think it looks really good. I'm in Colorado. If I were in New York / New Jersey, I would definitely try to take a closer look at Kzang's car. Out here, it seems like every 5-series is either black or silver. They look great, but I like blue - and I like to be a little different.

By the way, if anyone is curious, I tried the 2010 E-Class just to compare. I like the exterior (except for that weird, rear-fender line), but that interior would take some getting used to. I didn't fling it around too much, but it seemed to handle pretty well. The ride quality was amazing. Even if I wanted the E-Class, I wouldn't do it - the lease rates are just insane right now. There is no way I'd pay $900 a month. The 5's rates are amazing right now, and will probably only get better as BMW gets ready for the next 5-series.

Thanks again!

I assume the $900 a month was for the 6 cylinder E and not the 8.

You assume correctly. Actually, the way I would want it equipped, that E350 would be in the very high 900s. I didn't even want to look at E550 numbers. I have a 2008 C350 on a 2-year lease (up in November), so I'm not averse to Mercedes Benz cars. It was a great lease and it's been a great car. The 3-series just didn't do it for me - and when I saw the new C, I fell in love with its looks. But I need something larger, and all-wheel-drive would be really nice with our winters (Mercedes offers the C350 4Matic in Canada, but not here. Here, you have to do the C300 4Matic which is a little on the lethargic side for me). When I drove the 535, I couldn't believe that motor. Our mile-high altitude can really exaggerate turbo lag, so I had "realistic" expectations for the 535 motor. I cannot tell you how surprised I was. That motor is outstanding! And unless I just gunned it from a dead stop, I could not detect any noticeable turbo lag.

We're going to burn up our 125,000 frequent-flier miles on United to get to Munich in October. I should have it back here by mid to late November. It's going to be a LONG wait.

ED is an awesome way to spend your FF miles. That way you really maxmize the savings from ED.

It is ridiculous to think that the monthly lease payment on a 6 cylinder Mercedes is greater than that on a new 550i Sport. But there you have it.

The 535 is a fantastic choice. its engine clearly produces far more than the advertised 300 bhp as it is just the tiniest bit slower than a 550 in acceleration tests.

I am sure that waiting for it will drive you nuts but it will be well worth it.
