Default Clunk / knock - front suspension

Hi,

i'm searching since month to solve this problem, but i can't find anything. We changed all components ... control arms, struts, springs, shock absorbers, sway bar links & bushings and more. Tightened the strut bar and aligned the hood & the fenders.

What else could it be?

Thanks.

Does the clunk sound occur all of the time or only under certain conditions (i.e. road surface, speed, steering angle, etc etc).

Mostly when i'm driving over bumps or in sharper turns.

When i'm turning left or right, it clunks. The strange thing here is... i can turn 100 times in a row in the SAME direction and it clunks only the very first turn. It only clunks again, when i'm turning in the other direction.

Example: Sharp turn to the right - CLUNK. After that, i drive 100 right curves in a row - NOTHING. Now there is the first turn to the left - CLUNK.

🤔

I had something very similar. Mine was a hard knock in the front suspension when in a tight curve...didn't feel good at all. Mechanic had difficulty diagnosing. Apparently the '08 535i has an "active sway bar ". He had to replace, and calibrate the front active sway bar. Problem fixed.

I would almost suggest this sounds like a tie rod (outer) but wasn't sure you had replaced that already? Sometimes that bushing/washer thing "knocks" if not torqued correctly on the adjusting nut.
