CL500 ~vs~ 545i
#1
I have seen quite a few Bm ~vs~ merc stories on here, of which i am guilty of one !
Nearly 2 weeks ago we bought a secondhand, 2002, CL500 for my wife and i think it is pretty fast and pretty agile considering it is the size of a small cruise liner !
Yesterday i borrowed the merc as i had a long jorney to make and thought i would give it a shakedown .
Whilst in the normal course of enjoyingmy ride, i have to say the CL is a nice place to be for a long time.. v v comfortable.. , i found an e60 behind me on a motorway.. so i thought i'd try to get away from it..
Well the long and short is that once i moved the MB barge out of the way the "545i" seemed to cruise effortlessly past through the 90-100mph mark and then quite easily pull away.
so if it ws you in a black 545i with privacy glass and what looked like type 124 wheels on a 2005 yr UK registration, on the M60 yesterday near Prestwich Manchester at around 2:30pm i'm sorry .. i had to try !!!
BTW - the CL really is a very good car..a bit thirsty though but feels very refined and silent .. no rattles or creaks and is a cracking secondhand car at 50% dep on 3years !

CL500 isnt compared to E60 though.? Thats like comparing a 645ci to a C230, theres an obvious winner there...?
