My Ride: Alpine white 2004 545, cold weather package, premium sound, sport package.
Suppose my car is affected by one of the problems listed. What do I need to do? Do I schedule a service appointment or do our dealers call us? What do I say/ask the SA? Not just about the problems listed but past bulletins/recalls. I read an article for recalls for 2004(don't remember build date ) but my car 12/03 fell under it somewhere but couldn't save it cuz my comp froze. There was like 3 problems listed. All I remember was the front seater heater , i think the P side when turned on a certain porton of the seat would melt or burn.
Anyway, unless it is a safety recall, you will not hear from dealer or BMW. You need to pursue it with your SA. Just state your problem(s). I always have a list I work from and save them up for picking off the most serious ones when I see fixes listed.
Your recall was SIB 52 02 04 April-05 E60/E63 Recall Campaign 04V-575: Modification of the Front Seat Heater Circuit. I believe the full text of this TIS bulletin was posted in another thread way back when. Search for "burning" or "recall" or "heater" - ought to narrow down the list somewhat.
Go to Dealer Purchasing and Service forum here on E60.net and to the stickey posted on all Service Bulletins. There you will find titles of all the E60 Service bulletins.

What version did you have before? I feel v18 isn't that great for Active Steering!?

I have an oil change scheduled as I am reaching around 7000 miles. The SA told me there is a recall for Software update to my car which means most likely he will do the software update without even me insisting at the time of oil change.
Question :
I may have pre 16.0 CIP in it (May 2005 production) The only advantage of this update as some people say may be better transmission feel while in D mode. Besides that, I really dont miss anything that serious. Should I tell him to do the update the CIP still. Do I have a choice.
If I do this update and a new CIP comes in a month with MP3 feature in it, will the dealer do another update. Or does the current 20.0 update itself enable the MP3 in my car as some cars produced after Sep 2005 with Pro Navigation have MP3 capability.
Please advice.

Thanks cobradav for sending in the TIP.
I just got the 19.02 and I'm happy with it.
The N52 stands for the new gasoline sixinline engines.
N52B23 = 523i
N52B25 = 525i
N52B30 = 530i
I suppose the correct code for the new 550i's engine is N62B48TU.

I think you are right that the #2 is for the Adaptive Lighting and the #9 is obviously AS (the SIB it references certainly is Adaptive Steering).
Interesting they say "PROGMAN 20" and not "CIP 20"

I believe that is a typo on BMW's part. PROGMAN is the separate short name assigned to Program Manager which is the SSI and GTI software that now runs under Windows XP for doing the actual CIP upgrades. I'll have to watch and see if that ever gets corrected or if that becomes the new convention BMW uses.
