I really don`t underatand that CIPmania on this forum. My car was built 10/04 and I bought BM cradle afterwards for SE 630i and it works flawlessly, I`ve got RDS and no faults of warnings or any faults of any kind for that matter. Am I just lucky or is this CIP business on the brink of hysteria for some?
RDS, for example, worked (partially) on my 3/2004 build but a software update that was needed to fix other issues ended up disabling RDS because there were too many bugs. Only recently, after my latest software update, did RDS come back for me. Now I don't really think RDS is worth a hill of beans but judging from the posts about it on these boards, I guess it's important to many.
So, to answer your question, I guess you can say you're lucky!

My car recently have a CIP upgrade, don't know why they do it as I wasn't experiencing any problems. Couldn't feel the difference but I only notice that if last time I am in Entertainment mode before shutting the car off, when I start again it will be in the same screen whereas before the car will always be in the main screen with 4 arrows everytime I start my car.

Hi cd:
What is 21.03, etc., supposed to cure? Anything I would be interested in? Especially, of course, the workings of DSC/DTC.
Thanks.

All I can say is that my new car has been flawless so far (software wise).
I finally have RDS back (great, since I remember radio stations by name), BT works fine, the new NAV DVD now finally has roads that were built 6 years ago and were not on thre 2004 DVD, etc.
The controller still fights me when entering information in the NAV, but as I understand this is a "feature"...
I will avoid any upgrades as long as possble. Don't touch it if it works.
My old car had 2 upgrades and they fixed some things and screwed up others...

No car fixes, just software housekeeping tasks having to do with the update process itself. I noticed that the release notes are starting to show less and less vehicle dependant operating issues and more things for techs to watch out for in set up and testing. I've seen a couple "insiders" say that 22.xx is due in June, but not sure of changes. One update I suspect might be getting ready for the integrated iPod unit due in July, but only a guess.
