I had the latest CIP update carried out last week to my Aug 05 built car. MP3 works fine. I was told they had to replace the instrument cluster too - does that contain the CCC?, anyway it was all done FOC as i was told the car would have MP3 playback when I ordered it.
I reported that the Idrive boot up was very slow (about 10 seconds) and thus rendering the PDC useless when i reverse off my drive.
If anything the boot up time is now even slower. I get a static screen with "BMW" written accross the middle for nearly 8 seconds and it takes about 4 or 5 seconds for the PDC to boot up.
Has anyone heard of any known issues with this. My dealer said it was probably down to the cold weather!! yeah right!!

You are right, I uninstalled ,few days ago, nero express 6 and I installed Nero 7 Suite including NERO BURNING ROM.
In NERO BURNING ROM you can tune these parameters.
In my knowledge you need a more powerful tool than simple Nero Express.
There are for sure a lot of others burning tools suitable for, including old Nero 5.

Thanks, I installed my old Nero 5 and now it all works fine!

My car is a 545i 2003 production with business nav. I was told at the dealer that I can play MP3 on the Nav. drive without any updates. Is this true?
I don't know for sure but I think it is true.
Try and let us know.
P.S. In order to have Directories and files name with space (and no underscore) and some special caracter I find out that using nero burning ROM it is better to set ISO 9660:1999 and all is working fine .

i have a 4/06 built with pro/nav should i be able to play mp3?
Ya by April 2006 all the cars should play MP3s.
If you ment April 2005 built then you can play MP3s with the latest S/W Update. As long as you have NAV you should eventually play MP3s
