check engine help please

i have a 2004 bmw 530i , its the cold weather package , and i just got a check engine light for increased emmisions i dont know what to do to fix it so it turns off please help im new to bmw's

Could be any number of things from a cat to an o2 sensor to the MAF sensor... Run for codes to narrow it down.

and how would i run for codes , can you walk me through it , also would like to do a hid conversion to my headlights and , one more question what dose the charcoal filter delete do exactly ?? and how would i do it ?

Oh boy, in order to read codes you need a OBDII Scanner. This one is cheap and works awesome plus you can find a 20% off coupon online http://www.harborfreight.com/can-obd...enu-98568.html
I think auto zone will do it for free but its nice to have your own. OBDII port is in the footwell of the drivers side by the hood release. That code will let you know whats going on!
