Default Central key locking failed

Hi Guy's, sorry if this is a repeat but I think I posted it in the wrong place, I blame my age!, my remote key locking and unlocking has stopped working, it was intermittent then after a storm heavy rainfall it stopped altogether, thinking it was water ingress in the boot floor well, checked and dry as a bone, next checked and replaced fuse 53, disconnected the battery for and hour and a bit but still no joy. I can open the car from the door locks then the alarm sounds switch on drive off all good. One thing I did discover was the positive terminal on the battery was loose, and this must have been so since April when new pdc loom fitted at the dealers! so the battery my not be fully charged or has the loose terminal fried something? the keys are the diamond type so charge through the ignition or should do. My C110 shows no faults, as does INPA. I am completely foxed Help please.

Could the batter be dead in the key fob?

Hi guy's yes have tried both keys, and the diamond key batteries are sealed inside the fob and I do not know ant method of test. they should charge through the ignition and have just driven 600 miles home through France so should be tip top.
