This forum is so informative. My cd changer has been cyclying as described and I brought it to the dealership. SA had no idea why it was doing it and claims they couldn't reproduce the problem while it was in for service. Lately my air setting doesn't go half way as well. Both problems come and go but now I know the reason

Another indication that the battery is low, is that the comfort access system (keyless go) stops working.

When I got home last night I checked the voltage on the battery with the car off and quickly gained some new respect for the power management system in this car. The battery read 12.08 volts with the car off and 13.82 when it was running, this was after a 30 min highway like commute. This morning the I checked it again and saw 11.8x volts, clearly low for an automotive battery. My new respect comes from the cars ability to function virtually as if nothing is wrong on such a low voltage, the car really doesn't give me any grief trying to start and aside from the few items listed above runs as normal.

I checked my local Autozone and they have the 95 series battery in stock for 169.99 but I'm going to do some research today on the feasibility of the group 49 series battery I read some notes about. I placed them side by side this morning at Autozone and the 49 is about 1.5" shorter in length and @.5 inch shorter in height. Both have 850cca but the 95 has a slightly longer reserve capacity.

If you have many consumers, you should consider buying an AGM battery. It's a bit more expensive, but lasts longer and short trips are no problem.

Hi

Seems like BMW in Norway are more consumer friendly. I have 2006 530 dAT and due to problems with the electronics the battery has been changed twice at no cost. The second battery they put in was even an expensive AGM battery. I also got a loaner free of charge.

So you should consider moving to Norway!
Battery is covered (every where) under Original BMW Warranty but NOT under CPO warranty. Seems like, you must have been under 4yr/50k mark.

I replaced my battery last night and can confirm that the CD changer reloading issue has gone away, not to mention the A/C blower now works on full speed again.
