My iDrive crashed definitely 2 weeks ago; my 2006 520d was at dealer since end of last week;
Just got a phone call from them mentionning the CCC unit had been completely replaced and that the car was on "reprogramming" mode; wondered how long that could take: from 2 to more days...
So my 2 questions:
- how bad should it be that the CCC unit itslef was replaced: does this bring a definite solution to iDrive malfunctions ? Any experience qith that ?
- How long does it realy take to reprogram an E60 ? Longer than the time for Apple Leopard to come out on the market ????

 

If the CCC was faulty, then sure, the iDrive wouldn't work (or it would malfunction.) When an E60 gets reprogrammed, they often allocate 2 days because the process doesn't always succeed the first time it runs...

 

Just got my E60 back:
CCC got replaced it actually comes with a change of both DVD and CD slots and buttons
Car got reprogramed (can't figure which version): now the iDrive is so much faster to boot !!!
The iDrive screen is now greyish (looked brownish before) , and there's this new thing: in the assistant window of the idrive screen, when coming to an intersection (pronav), the directional arrow pop's up indicating correct direction: now that's a cool issue !!!
Car is working, and that's the best thing I could hope !!!
