wow didnt think id get this much replies...but well done guys...im a technician here in mississauga ontario... and i even learned more facts about oil grades... just as i thought i couldn't....
my next oil change i will probably be switching to 0W30 castrol synthetic..but ive been using 5w30 synthetic...its probably a better bet with the 0w30 since the winters in ontario are terrible...hehehe.. keep the posts coming guys!

I plan to switch both my BMW's to Castrol 0W30 synthetic as well. E60 has prepaid maintenance so I have to wait till I reach 100K miles but the E46 is getting it at next oil change. With 5W30 weight oil, I notice slight lifter noise in NJ cold morning on initial startup (this car sits outside) .

On a side note, I had the same noise with the oem bmw castrol...so can't blame the mobil 1
I'll probably keep getting the Lubro Moly from bavauto....as it is the same price as the bmw oil per qt.....but it ends up being more expensive in the long run because of shipping and no cca discount. I paid $96 with shipping for 10 liters of lubro moly and the oil filter. Had I spent another 4 bucks shipping would of been free. I didn't realize until afterwards that my micro air filters are getting close to needing replacing....I should of ordered those too
In anycase it's still far cheaper than what the dealer charges for an oil change.

I just received mine yesterday, and replaced the mobil 1 with it. The lifter noise seems to be gone, which is what I think it was...if i would hold the rpms around 5000k under light load I would hear the ticking.......but like I said, since the Lubro Molly, it seems to be gone now. This article is the reason I decided to try the lubro

If you are BMW CCA member they do offer a discount... Check your HOD News letter the info is usually on the back cover.

Bavauto? Damn! A day and a dollar late...oh well, now I know for next time....thanks
Just be honest and tell them you didn't know.

I'm going to try mobil 1 0-40 next time instead of 5-30. The 0-40 is the european car formula and is BMW LL01 rated, the 5-30 is not. Either one, i only pay 40$ plus the cost of the filter for an oil change on my car
