unless you are gonna keep your car for 300,000 it probably doesnt matter. Even at that, it doesnt matter. The kinds of oil you use is one of those arguments/discussions that car enthusiasts have when they are discussing a moot point.

All of these oils have to meet specific standards to be sold.


It all comes down to marketing. I like mobil 1s bottle better.

If you are adding a quart to the Castrol already in there, then I would use castrol. If you forgo the free maintenance and do it yourself then either would work well. I think Mobil 1 has been around since the 1970's.

I had my e39 for 247k miles. I had nothing but Castrol.

e60 is the same.

we give the option of either when doing oil changes for locals. personally, Joe and I prefer Mobil1

Either Castrol 0W30 or Mobil1 0W40 is fine to me. Although I prefer Castrol 0W30, I buy and use either one on promotion.

Mobil1 is factory fill on my 997. You won't go wrong with either.
