The whirrring sound is the fuel pump. Primes the lines.

Also, maybe a good time to have someone test output voltages on the battery and alternator - just in case

My airbag warning sensor was coming on as well so my mechanic reset the sensor, the batterys output was 9V, apparently some systems don't work under 10V so he charged my battery and everything appears to be fine.

If the sensor warning comas back on it will mean the sensor has a problem.
