Yes, thanks! I thought someone may have mentioned it b4 me LOL Yes, bent rim would do that too, but also, bent rim would transfer at least some vibration at all speeds.

Hey guys,
I have a 2004 545i sport steptronic with 98500 km.
Recently I've been noticing that my steering wheel shakes when I accelerate. Now I've noticed it more often.
It starts shaking around 85 km/h and continues to shake harder the faster I go. The car shakes hard and travels up the steering wheel. But when I release the pedal when going fast the shaking/vibration stops. So basically I can drive about 80 km/h only and If I decide to go faster everything shakes.
My warranty is out and I drive highways daily so any help would be appreciated.
Thank you guys.

I had the same pjroblem, it turned out to be my tires
Just went through this, mine was caused by installing after market rims, and all the same symptoms as yours. Took them to a place that does "road force balancing" which is more accurate than the "traditional" balance. Nice thing is the machine will tell you if the rim is out of true etc. They installed hubcentric inserts (8 bucks a piece so cheap solution) and balanced all 4 to zero. Car is smooth now at all speeds! I see you're from Alberta, not sure where, I had mine done at Fast Tech Tire in Edmonton and would reccomend them highly professional and quick!
